Silk Road Classics
The headline route through Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva.
View tours →Every tour on this site lives on /tours, sorted by length, budget, style and season. This page sorts the same tours differently — by the kind of trip you want, before you have picked a city or a length. A theme is a starting point, not a separate product.
Below are the themes we run this way: the classic circuit through the great cities, a single day out, a pilgrimage, the outdoor half of the country, or a trip built from a conversation instead of a shelf. Open whichever one sounds right.
What a theme actually is
A theme isn’t another page sitting next to a tour or a destination — it’s a lens on the same catalogue. Instead of starting from a place or a length, you start from the shape of the trip you want, and that decides what belongs on it.
Most themes narrow the same catalogue: a theme lifts the tours that answer one idea off /tours and sets the rest aside. Two narrow nothing, because there’s no fixed shelf to narrow from — they describe what’s possible rather than list what’s already booked.
Who each theme suits
Silk Road Classics is where most first trips start: the classic run through the great cities, at whichever length suits your time. Day Trips is for the opposite traveller — a spare day either side of a longer route, or a single free day, seeing one city properly.
Pilgrimage & Ziyarat suits travellers visiting the Naqshbandi shrines around Bukhara on their own terms. Desert & Trekking is for the country’s outdoor half — the Chatkal mountains, the Kyzylkum dunes. Private & Tailor-made groups routes most often booked privately, shaped around one party’s pace. Food & Crafts and Luxury & Boutique sit apart: neither has a fixed itinerary.
How to turn a theme into a trip
Each theme page opens the same way: an introduction, then either matching tours pulled from the same catalogue as /tours — with a link back to browse everything — or, for the two themes with no fixed itinerary, a straight request for a price.
A tour can sit under more than one theme, because the same days answer more than one idea: the Urungach lake day out belongs to both Day Trips and the outdoor theme. Wherever you start, the next step is the same — tell us what you have in mind.
