Urungach Jade Lakes — Jeep & Hike Day Trip

Trade the city for jeep trails, alpine air and a turquoise lake. Urungach hides high in the Ugam-Chatkal mountains, about 140 km from Tashkent — the last 35 km a rough, unpaved road that UAZ off-road jeeps handle for you.

From Small (Kichik) Urungach it’s about an hour’s hike on foot to Big Urungach — moderate difficulty, no special preparation needed, hiking poles recommended. Free time at the lake to rest, explore and take photos, then a picnic lunch by the water before heading back, with an optional stop at the barrel-style “bochka” restaurants of Chorvoq. Best in April–May or early autumn.
