Do you need a visa for Uzbekistan? The 2026 e-visa guide

Uzbekistan has transformed its entry rules over the last few years, and for most travellers getting in is now genuinely simple. The country runs one of the most generous visa regimes in the region — many nationalities need nothing at all, and the rest apply online in minutes. Here is how it works in 2026.

Visa-free travel

Citizens of more than ninety countries — including the United Kingdom, the EU, Japan, South Korea, Canada and Australia — can enter Uzbekistan visa-free for stays of up to thirty days. You simply arrive with a passport valid for at least six months, and there is no paperwork to complete in advance. This covers the great majority of our guests.

The online e-visa

If your nationality is not on the visa-free list — US citizens are the most common example — you apply for an e-visa at the official portal, e-visa.gov.uz. The single-entry tourist e-visa is valid for thirty days, costs around USD 20, and is usually approved within two to three working days. You upload a passport scan and a photo, pay by card, and receive the visa by email as a PDF to print and carry.

What you need

For both routes the essentials are the same: a passport valid for six months beyond your travel dates, with at least one blank page. Hotels and yurt camps register your stay automatically and issue small registration slips — keep them, as they may occasionally be checked on departure.
