About the journey

The Fergana Valley Crafts Loop is a focused four-day journey into the artisan heartland east of Tashkent, where many of Uzbekistan's most celebrated crafts are still made by hand. You cross the mountain pass into the green, fertile valley and head straight to the source — the silk weavers of Margilan, the blue-glazed ceramicists of Rishtan and the historic khan's town of Kokand.

This is craft seen at its origin, in working ateliers rather than gift shops: the slow magic of ikat at the Yodgorlik silk factory, the cobalt-and-turquoise pottery that has made Rishtan famous, and the palace and madrasas of Kokand that recall the valley's days as a khanate. Your licensed Eastern guide introduces you directly to the masters, so conversations are real and purchases come straight from the people who made them.

Short and rich, it works beautifully as a standalone for textile and ceramics enthusiasts or as a deeper add-on to a wider Uzbekistan tour. Spring is the loveliest time, when the valley is green and the orchards are in blossom.
