You travel between them by high-speed Afrosiyob train and short connecting flights, so the days belong to the monuments rather than the road: the towering madrasas of the Registan, the holy necropolis of Shah-i-Zinda, the labyrinth of Bukhara's old town, and the perfectly preserved walled city of Itchan Kala in Khiva.
